Here in La La Land ;
Over 100* F in the Valleys , yesterday it was 102* in Pasadena and I had to go there and tend my Animals etc. , lucky for me I have a Mercedes Diesel Sports Coupe as my chariot ~ I hopped in and fired it up and soon was cruising on air conditioned splendiferous comfort .
I need to go to the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys to-day , it'll prolly brek 105* so once again I'll drive a faithful Mercedes Diesl with well over 300,000 hard miles on it , to get me where I need to go .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] It's HOT !
We may be heading for a break in the heat. Early afternoon, it was 108 degrees in Woodland Hills. But while I was heading home from a comfortable day in air conditioned courts and libraries (all provided by my tax dollars, thank me!) the temperature in Woodland Hills had dropped to 100 degrees by 4:30 p.m. So we may be entering a cooling trend.
Here on the west side, when I got home at 5:00, it was down under 80 degrees.
HOWEVER, we have had a refinery fire in the Bay area. Amazingly, it didn't cause any injuries, and didn't damage any critical parts of the refinery. But we are officially informed by the oil industry that the fire will force them to raise the price of regular gas up over $4.00 / gal. by this weekend.
I don't understand how it is that the press release about the effects of the fire was drafted before the fire started. Just a lucky guess by someone in the PR department!
