I'm so looking forward to a cooling trend. It's 8:15 and still nearly 90 on my deck.
Yikes on the fuel costs! I put $290 in the truck tank in a week! (had to see the doc 5x for my thigh) Hence the reason Kevin goes in on Monday and stays till Friday. Looking forward to getting him a Diesel Mercedes to drive. Less fuel cost and I'll see him every day!
Just walked back up from the mail box, got a postcard from the power co-op, they plan to do some "power line switching" on Tues, cutting power for 1-5 hrs when it's predicted by NOAA to be 98 degrees that day. I sure do hope I start my new office job on Monday. Otherwise I'll be hiding out somewhere else. No a/c, no computer, geez...
I did write them an email asking who the brain was that came up with the idea to do this during the hottest time of year. My old a/c wouldn't reset. They've been working on this stuff for a few weeks now. I came home from picking Kevin up to find the house boiling hot. Then the a/c conked out, thankfully Lowes honored the warranty and replaced it. The new a/c does reset, but at 71 degrees! I guess I'd rather have it cold than hot. However, it hacks me that my 2 freezers and fridge will be without power for up to 5 hrs. Too bad there's nothing good in there to binge eat! Just rabbit pelts that eventually I'll either get around to tanning or throwing away, chicken stock for winter soups, stuff like that.

We may be heading for a break in the heat. Early afternoon, it was 108 degrees in Woodland Hills. But while I was heading home from a comfortable day in air conditioned courts and libraries (all provided by my tax dollars, thank me!) the temperature in Woodland Hills had dropped to 100 degrees by 4:30 p.m. So we may be entering a cooling trend. Here on the west side, when I got home at 5:00, it was down under 80 degrees.HOWEVER, we have had a refinery fire in the Bay area. Amazingly, it didn't cause any injuries, and didn't damage any critical parts of the refinery. But we are officially informed by the oil industry that the fire will force them to raise the price of regular gas up over $4.00 / gal. by this weekend.I don't understand how it is that the press release about the effects of the fire was drafted before the fire started. Just a lucky guess by someone in the PR department!Tom
