I think "seized" might just be a bad word choice on his part. I have had clutch face plates "slip" or "explode" with high powered engines. Throw bearings have gone bad too, and transmissions as well. But, I have never personally had a clutch seize up.

I spotted a 1982 240D on CL.  Owner claims that the clutch seized up.  Is this possible?  $650 is awefully tempting...
