Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Brake fluid change question for 350SD
Hi all,
I have a question about changing the brake fluid in my '91 350SD. I have always gone about this by having an assistant (annoyed teen-aged daughter) pump the brake pedal while I collected the fluid at the various bleed screws. The shop manual for the car seems to prefer using some kind of machine for this if you have the anti-lock brakes (which I do).
I also have a 2001 Passat with anti-lock which I have always used the pedal-pump method with no ill effects. It looks like getting a power bleeder makes the procedure easier, however (see comment about daughter). So any thoughts as to whether pedal pumping would be a bad thing for this car? Any power bleeders to recommend?
Thanks,
Dave
