They also fluted the lower body side moldings, I think they did away with all this because "!NEW and DIFFERENT !" trumps good engineering in new car sales .

Interesting that MB kept fluted tail lights for decades, but no longer use it on the latest models. I guess mud and slush behave differently now-a-days....
