Thanks Alan.
I hope mine isn't as tough as yours, and at least source some bolts if it is. I don't think the can idea would work too well, as the oil runs down the side of the engine, and sprays back on everything behind while driving. One article mentioned making sure the holes are cleaned out, so the allen wrench fits all the way inside.

I tried to do it on my wrecked 84 to ease removal of the injection pump. I found that the alen wenches would turn in the bolts and there was no easy way to break them loose. Since it was a high mileage pump, I figured it wasn't worth the trouble. In your case an alternative might be to fit a catch can and suck the oil out periodically.. If the flow is higher, add a pump.'

Bill,
Possibly so. I think I know what I need to do, though if anyone has done it, maybe there's so tips, or other advice.
There's not much space to work around this repair, and better on a lift, than on my back in the driveway, but that's how it is around here.
Thanks

Bill,
My leak is where the oil filter canister meets the engine. You need to remove the whole canister, clean, replace gasket, and reattach..

Hi,
Even after all the repairs/ maintenance I've done recently, or have had done, I still have a bad leak at the oil filter canister.
Has anyone done a oil filter canister gasket replacement?
I have the gasket, and special shortened wrenches used to work the oil cooler lines, yet it still looks like a PITA..
Any advice? Did replacing the gasket stop the leak? Any special sealants used on the gasket, etc?
Thanks
Rob
