Bill,
My leak is where the oil filter canister meets the engine. You need to remove the whole canister, clean, replace gasket, and reattach.

Is the oil filter gasket a Large O-ring? If so, it is possible to find two of them in there. One didn't get removed waay back. Bill in Oregon

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] oil filter canister gasket replacement, has anyone done this?
Hi,
Even after all the repairs/ maintenance I've done recently, or have had done, I still have a bad leak at the oil filter canister.
Has anyone done a oil filter canister gasket replacement?
I have the gasket, and special shortened wrenches used to work the oil cooler lines, yet it still looks like a PITA.
Any advice? Did replacing the gasket stop the leak? Any special sealants used on the gasket, etc?
Thanks
Rob
