It is exciting to find a low mileage car, where you can drive the hell out of it for years, and still have a lower mileage car than most.
12yrs ago I found my car with 93K on it, whereas most others I saw at the time were in the 200K-300K range. What I noticed most was the seats, and the suspension, were much nicer.
Now I'm at 220K or so. Hoping for another decade.

Thanks! Finding a low milage car with complete documentation was luck, but I'm still faced with age related degradation of the plastic parts.

On a slightly different subject. I just bought an 83 300D with 96,000 miles on it. It came with a Mercedes Battery which looks recent. The car came with documentation from day 1 and shows that the last time the valves were adjusted was about 10,000 miles ago. What is the recommended time between valve adjustments? I have the wrenches but I'm a little light on ambition at the moment.--

Good deal Mark ! .
The last couple Mercedes batteries I have bought were wallymart ones, bought 'On The Fly' as we were traveling when they pooped out .
So far, so good .
I think the one in my Coupe is over 6 years old now....
I hope they're not salting the roads !.

Hey folks,
My car has been quite reliable despite single digit temps. The last two
days, when coming home from work, I have forgotten to plug her in. The
first day, the 4 cylinder cranked slowly, but caught one cylinder at a
time. Yesterday, the battery proved itself not up to the task. I never
thought my car cranked as freely as I have heard others, so I was not
really surprised. I bought the mid-priced battery. With that one she
whipped over and started instantly.
I did not buy the car to be driven so much in the winter, but we lost a
car through a crash this summer and it was pressed into full-time
service. My only regret is that running it in snow and salt is surely
doing to degrade the body, which was quite nice.
