Where are you, Gerry?
It's been warm enough around here that I've been on the 'sycle everywhere I go. (But then, I'll ride as long as it's above 20 degrees F and the roads are dry.) Then, last week, when I was looking for interior bits for an MDX at the Denver UPull, I caught a familiar profile out of the corner of my eye. What the..?! Sure enough, there was a W116 sitting there, a '79 SD, like mine, barely touched. It wasn't even listed on their website. So, in addition to a bunch of little stuff, I scored a decent windshield and really nice gasket for $36. Today, with temps going up into the low '60s, I decided to get mine up to my shop to install this new find. At just about freezing this morning, it took a bit of cranking before the old gal fired up on all five. I'm pretty sure I haven't put in any fuel since August, and it probably still has summer blend in it.
It sure is nice having not only a clear, uncracked windshield, but not having to listen to the wind blow past all the cracks and holes that was such a feature of the old gasket. Worst rubber I've ever seen on a car not sitting abandoned in a field....
