I won't pay the Gecko. The reason for insurance is to replace an accidental loss. If you pay less, they must reimburse less.
At least they didn't do what they did to my brother. First accident and they canceled his insurance policy. Every new insurance company will ask if you have ever been canceled. If so, they won't insure you either. You end up on the states "assigned risk" list that forces the insurance companies to cover you. This is where the DWI's and reckless end up. The new policy price jumped 10X in price.

Who is your insurer? I have GEICO and when I hit a deer, it was a nightmare getting them above 4,000 on my car. I was dinged by the adjuster for such things as "smoke around tailpipe - indicating fire or engine damage". I might as well have been speaking Navajo when I said it's a DIESEL and that soot is typical. The body was also rated "bad shape" because of a minor ding with a chip the size of a ball point pen on the driver's side door. I've dropped coverage to liability only because they were such asses.

As it puts you better than you were , I'd take it and begin anew .
I'm still flabbergasted anyone would steal an old Mercedes Diesel .
I bet it went overseas .
Oh wait ~ you're next to Mexico , they love Diesels more than we do .

Well, here is the number guys. It's three times what I paid for the car. Probably more money than I put in it over the last 6 years.
But, it's a first offer number to settle up on the theft. Any thoughts? Do I counter offer on the settlement? Who's done this before.
Thanks for the help.
