Just for fun ;
Try replacing all the flexible hoses between the injectors including that long one back to the housing .
When these return hoses get old and stiff , they allow air into the closed & looped fuel injection system after it sits awhile , causing hard cold starts .
IIRC you already checked your glow plugs and valve gaps .
If the engine is running @ idle , loosenng the 17 MM injector line to injector nuts _one_ flat will *instantly* cause weeping of DieselFuel and usually , miss firing of that cylinder .
Looking closely , if you see bubbles comig out in the weepeing fuel , there's a leak somewhere , usually in the intake screen's hose clamps or the secondary fuel filter's banjo bolt .

If I let her rest for 2 hours a couple of misfires longer it just takes longer to start. But once it catches it idles smoothly. Could this be a sign of injector/check valve or other problem. I pump my manual pump and open the injectors can't seem to get the injectors to weep. Lawrence Rhodes..
