Ah yes stage 3 tires, rubber bands for the road. Actually it would take a little figuring but you can pick a size that will come close to the circumference of the original size. My 300SD came with 15" wheels and 225 70 15" tires if I remember correctly. Probably not the optimum size, but conveniently the same size as the ones on my 87 560SEL. No acceleration problems there.

14" tires are cheap & plentiful .
Of course if you want 15" wheels that's fine too , just be aware they'll seriously hinder your acelleration....
