Re: [diesel_mercedes] any advice on door seals?

Put them out in the sun so they get soft and pliable. You can use baby talc (or soapy water) to get them to seat. Make sure all of the crud from the old seal is removed. This is a good time to do any other door issues too. I posted pics under Brians xyz when I did mine. After market rubber can be less than wonderful, so before you seal things down, I would open and close the door 10 or 12 times to make sure you get a good fit. The sealant (in my opinion) does not need to be applied in gobs, as a thin bead works fine.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] any advice on door seals?

guys, i have the parts, but have no experience changing out the door seals.  i understand i need marine glue- have two tubes, have seals for 3 of 4 doors and for the trunk.  does anyone have tips or instructions they would send me?  or possibly a video? I don't want to strip out what i have until i have an idea what i should be doing and of course i don't want to ruin and waste the nice parts i got.
thanks much,
-dw
