[diesel_mercedes] Re : Becker Fun

Well Chip ;

I did say I'm not happy with it because it looks different but it _IS_
still a Becker Electronic that fits the hole correctly and has the correct connections and yes , it's happily playing away right now ~ the grubby faceplate bugged me to distraction so I took a clean lint free rag and some Meguiar's # 40 Plastic Cleaner and soaked the corner of the rag and rubbed the faceplate until it shone like new again , then I mopped the dashboard and cleaned the sweat stains off the driver's side inner door panel , yes , I like to cruise with my elbow out the open window like God and Mercedes Benz intended.....

One rag will clean quite a bit of plastic / vinyl of you're careful .

FWIW , SWMBO's nice '82 240D has a fancy-schmancy Kenwood CD Deck in it , I hated it from the jump but she says leave it alone because I/She can play CD's in it....

Of course , my CD's are mostly 1920's & 30's Blues with often non PC lyrics , the Foster Boys seem to enjoy them , SWMBO maybe a bit less.

I still have a few early Beckers and in time I'll either fix the dead one or pull out another old one and make it go .

I bought a tape cassette adapter at the .99 Cents Store , it works great , now if I can only figure out where I put the brand new pocket sized CD player I bought to use with it....

Nate R. hipped me to a place that repairs Beckers and other old Car Radios , I know ADSIT sells rebuilt Beckers but I hear nothing but complains about ADSIT so beware...

I hope this helps ? .
