Subject: [diesel_mercedes] newbie valve adjustment questions
Hello all
My understanding is that intake valves should have .004 inch clearance and exhaust valves .012 inch clearance (1978 300D)
Two questions:
1. can intake valves being under .002 inch ( I do not have a .001 gauge)
and exhaust valves being over .014 inch cause overheating?
2. Can the adjustment be made when the cam is not STRAIGHT UP ?
I am using the starter to rotate the engine.
thank you
Rodger
