[diesel_mercedes] Pick-A-Part Junkyards ~ A Love / Hate Affair

So ;

Tom and I are out looking for 1980 Cadillac S & S Victoria Hearse parts and I decide to wander over & look at the Euro Section , of _course_ there's a really nice 1982 240D with shiny paint and only body damage was where some boob pried the locked trunk open , rummaged 'round & left , taking the radio & battery .

I mean ,this car looked _nice_ ~ a shiny recent re spray and receipts inside for a new alternator and battery in May 2011 were in the car and the engine was dusty but not oily as are the thrashers .

Anyway , as the trunk has been left open all the residual spare parts in it had gotten wet , the new glow plugs , gaskets and other usual DIY things carried by Diesel lovers , some boxes of brake pads were soggy cardboard and I mused as to why so many of us tend to put the old , worn out pads back in the box & save " just in case " or some suck foolishness ~ when I pushed them aside to look underneath the spare tire , the boxes fell apart and spilled out a full set of front and read brake pads .

A package of new turn signal bulbs too .

Sweet .

I then decided to have another look in the passenger compartment and found a dog bone wrench and a 1/4" ratchet , now I have one to keep in my junkyard tool bucket all the time .
As I said , _sweet_ .

This trip out I spotted a whole buncha good things I didn't need : new or freshly rebuilt alternators , glow plugs , V-Belts and coolant hoses , heater hot water valves , radiators plastic and metal and on and on...
