Re: [diesel_mercedes] Exhaust Smoke

Well, remember the IP pump is lubricated by engine oil.  Could be some bad seals in the pump causing it to pull oil into the injection side.

Mine is doing as you describe yours doing, but also really bad acceleration, and super lumpy idle when hot.  I pulled one from a Pick-A-Part for $40 dollars from an '83 123 (a beautiful car that really SHOULDN'T have been been there, but....).  Once I swap out my IP, I'm going to tear down my old one and see what's in there....

Yes maybe ;

The black smoke is obviously fuel related and I did have some water & fungus issues _after_ I installed a full set of brandy new Monark injectors so I'll begin there , by pop testing them and seeing if any drool or if the nozzles might have blown out , it only takes _one_ water contamination in the fuel tank to do this .

The blue smoke coupled with high oil usage , OTOH , has me concerned as 350 ~ 400 miles per quart is way too high for a $5,000 engine rebuild with new cylinder sleeves etc.

We shall see , I will get it sorted out one way or t'other , rest assured of this .

Sounds like IP issues, since I know your engine's fresh....
