[diesel_mercedes] Central Locking Success !

WAH - HOO ! =8-) .

Friday morning I moved SWMBO's '82 240D to the other side of the street because it was street sweeping day , later on we left town .

Monday 09:00 she asked me to move it back because to - day is that side's street sweeping day , when I unlocked the driver's door , the other doors unlocked too .

What I did was : replace ALL those myriad 40MM long bits of rubber hose that connect the plastic pipes to the actuators and each other , also the rubber ' Y ' connectors used near the fuel filler flap actuator , the leaky passenger's side door actuator , the fuel flap and trunk lock actuators .

This is neat as SWMBO can't figure out how to unlock the truck with the key so now I can leave it unlocked and the central locking will automatically lock or unlock it for her , leaving the spare tire , jack & tool kit safe .

The car also shifts better and shuts off *instantly* rather than the usual laboring stuttering & gradual loss of RPM's as it builds vacuum.

SWEET .

GO Mercedes for designing a smooth & efficient system that still works well 30 years later with minimal mtce. & repairs .(true
' economy cars ' ! )

I need to do this to my Diesel Sports Coupe too .
