[diesel_mercedes] Re : Bosch Injector Service

The deal is this : when they rebuild them , they just grab loose body parts out of a barrel , willy-nilly , then they shim & test them to suit the particular application . if BOSCH does the rebuilding , they have these nifty plastic bands that are both color coded and stamped with the rebuilt P/N , I don't like this .

As you're missing heat shields , I'm betting some goof just grabbed a handful of used injectors & slapped 'em on in , when you get it sorted to have 5 injectors that pop off at the same pressure (or within 10 #) and have nice fine conical mist spray patterns , your OM617 is going to suddenly have much more giddy-ap & git to it .

The fun you're having now is why I never , _EVER_ trust anyone or anything to have been done right .

Found an injector finger tight, so I pulled the fuel manifold and all the old return lines, and pulled out all the injectors to see how they were doing, never having done this since I installed the used engine, 10 or so years ago. Surprise!
