Chuck ;
NO relation to the new headlight .
These otherwise fine cars tend to stop charging but not turn on the red dashboard warning lamp so you happily drive until it suddenly won't start .
FWIW , for less than the Mechanic charges to (maybe) test things , you can buy an alternator tester that plugs into the cigarette lighter and shows *exactly* what's going on under the hood .
If you have access to a battery charger , you can complete the entire testing cycle at home for less $ than taking it anywhere .
Remember to try turning the alternator's fan by hand , if it isn't really hard to make slip in the belt and if the belt doesn't squeak when you force it to turn , the V-Belt is too loose ~ look closely at the narrow part , if any cracks it's JUNK and waiting to snap and strand you .

Jumped it and will probably have to jump it to get home tonight. I put in a sylvania super bright twice the price bulb. $19 vs $9 for the cheap one.
