From what I've read easy, its the part that control the vanes that is tricky.

I'll get some quotes on getting the whole thing redone (including porting and polishing). What/how is the Liberty turbo different and is there a thread someplace that covers someone who has done that to a 617? Thanks for the help! Ben near Detroit . Regarding rust, on a couple of the coolant ports, one was completely clogged and the one next to it was 3/4ths plugged. Several of the head bolts came out dry and a little dusty/rusty but a few were damp with oil. How do you get the intake and exhaust studs off? I want to get this stripped down as much as possible and I'm going to send it out to have the valves and prechambers done. Hate to get this far and cheap out only to have to pull it again. Is there any evidence of corrosion/rust on the mating surfaces? (Hard to tell in photos....)
Did you see anything on the "bad" head that indicated a problem? What does the receiving engine's low end look like?
