Now Nate, that’s something I hadn’t considered. But I like it. Googled the idea and hit this thread: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-ce-d-cd-td/1222708-port-polish.html
Hmmm…
Damn you Nate!

Port and polish head will you at it,and try it on intake manifold.Intead of rebuilding turbo, get one from a wreck Jeep Liberty diesel. This should give you extra 20 hp.
Working on the receiving car starting today. Been kinda nice to be able to dismantle the donor in my garage to learn what to do on the recipient. Main problem here is I am a total neophyte. I can read and turn a wrench but of course there’s a lot of difference between doing this work and calculating inside and outside basis adjustments under IRC §704 (I can’t do that without reading first either!). All comes down to experience and the school of hard knocks. But I’m not askared! As soon as I get the recipient car torn down I’ll shoot some pics of course. Thinking of just biting the bullet and sending this head out to get the once-over. I’m also pulling the starter and rebuilding the turbo while I have this all torn down. It’s all open and easily accessible (except the top bolt on the starter of course). I’m hoping the lower half of the recipient motor is in good shape. Only has 150k on it so… Also thinking about straight thru-no muffler exhaust! Vrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooommmmmmmmmm! Fun times. Ben near Detroit From: Looks good to me!
