Re: [diesel_mercedes] Granitize Wetcoat Wax & seat pads

Nate,

It's easier to find a decent passenger seat, which is mainly the same, after swapping out/ flipping a few parts.

I replaced my seat bottom, using a passenger seat, after I broke a spring.

As usual ;

Bill easily finds things I spent hours searching for.....

The squab is being sold by adsit, a company with a terrible reputation in Mercedes circles.....

We'll see .

I found the padding used : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pipe-Wadding-Padding-for-Mercedes-Covers-SL107-W123-W114-W115-W109-etc/382222237904?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

I'm undecided how to go forward on this .

If I can find a decent W123 Driver's seat I might buy it and install it, take my old one apart to replace the broken spring box and try my hand at installing those seat covers .

The seat covers place is not far away, in North Hollywood, Ca. where I used to work and still have friends .

I have found three W123's in a junkyard East of here so to - morrow after my bi - weekly Kaiser torture appt. (cleverly called "Occupational Therapy")  Tom and I will head out there to see if I can find good 'C' pillar interior sail covers and remove them without breaking......

Plus a few other fiddly bits and Tom wants to get some W126 seat belts and try his hand at cleaning them as I did mine ~ no one paid any attention when I did it but everyone who now gets into the 240D is amazed at how soft and flexible the seat belts are now....

I just ordered up four of the 126.914.22.15 seat coil "inserts" that I mentioned some time back, they give the front edge of the seat more thigh support, I'll install those too .

I guess maybe Granitize no longer makes the pint size bottles ? . I really don't want to work with a gallon jug of it but will do what I have to do .

Shirley took her first ride in the 240D since I began polishing it to - day and says it looks like a new car to her .

If Mamma's happy the whole house is happy .
