On a slightly different subject.  I just bought an 83 300D with 96,000 miles on it.  It came with a Mercedes Battery which looks recent.  The car came with documentation from day 1 and shows that the last time the valves were adjusted was about 10,000 miles ago.  What is the recommended time between valve adjustments?  I have the wrenches but I'm a little light on ambition at the moment.

The last couple Mercedes batteries I have bought were wallymart ones, bought 'On The Fly' as we were traveling when they pooped out .

So far, so good .

I think the one in my Coupe is over 6 years old now....

I hope they're not salting the roads ! .
