Re: [diesel_mercedes] New to group

Not a big fan of the new Bosch glow plugs.  They're lifespans are too short.  I think they're made in India now.  The old German- and French-made ones were much better.  Berus are the way to go these days.

BTW and off-topic:  I still have my '67 DS Pallas.  Runs and drives, but it needs a lot of work....

Besides unplugging and re-plugging relay, which is a good idea, you can check the glow plugs with a multi-meter set to ohms at the relay, when not in use. It's usually obvious if one is bad. They should be around zero, where the bad one's are something else. There are little numbers at each post, which correspond to each cylinder, 1 in front. Only buy Bosch glow plugs.

Pop the lid on the rely box and unplug and plug back in the plug a few times. Worked for me when the glows dont light up. Max

Hello Stan,
My email is being blocked by Charter. I've been out of communication for almost a week. They are quick with the bills, but not the help.
I got the tie rods on last night. The next big problem is figuring out why I get no glow plugs most of the time. Three, sometimes four turns of the key and they finally come on most of the time. I should look for a signal to the relay. If that's not it, then the relay is wonky.
The metal relays are pricey. Does anyone have luck fixing them?
