You hand pack the grease gun and mash the back cover down till it starts working. Whenever it does not work pressure the back down till it works. Thats how mine works. Max

Yes and no Max ;
Remember : I have three old Mercedes W123's and I use all of them as daily drivers, none have any bank notes against them so they're cheaper than paying for a new Kia or whatever .
I use plenty of used parts when I feel it wise, (safe etc.) and I also beat the bushes *very* hard before $pending any lolly and I often harvest obviously new/rebuilt parts off wrecks because I know what I'll be needing sooner or later .
EXAMPLE: last August when I was in New Mexico to meet my Siblings and bury our Father, I spent some time walking Junk yards and found a passable 240D that someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to make the engine start and so bought and installed a rebuilt starter motor before junking the whole car that had bad glow plugs and ruined injectors ~ I forget what I paid for it but it wasn't anywhere near the co$t of a rebuilt one and I only got dinged $3 or so for the core charge, my 240D's starter was and is still working fine but we're doing the engine and tranny now (!$!) and Carlos said I might as well replace it now so I had it handy and now still have a perfectly good spare OM616/617 starter .
Many here have helped me to $ave big on parts and other services ! .
They're safer than moderns cars too and since I'm going to be working on old machines anyway, I might as well put the labor and dollar$ in where I feel I get good dollar value .
At this point I realize I prolly should have bought a different Diesel Coupe but in for a penny, in for a pound .
BTW : I received the needle typ grease gun yesterday, it looks pretty good, I'll have to figure out how to load and operate it, looks pretty simple to me.
I plan to use White Lithium based long fiber grease for the rood hinges .
@ $10 U.S. including shipping this German made tool looks a good bargain to me.
