I've been having a loping at idle that gets worse and occasionally stops completely, it appears to be worse as the engine gets fully warmed up .
When it lopes significantly I usually see Diesel smoke coming out the exhaust and it'll leave a grey cloud when I pull away from a dead stop .
I'm still getting some black fungus crud in the clear plastic intake screen so I ran the tank to empty and added one gallon of Startron before filling it up and have been driving it, the loping is less than before but to - day I ran it close to empty again and found more fungus in the intake screen, cleaned that out , added 6 oz. of Startron and filled the tank with 19.3 gallons of ProPel Bio-Mass Diesel fuel .
Soon I plan to do a routine valve adjustment and hot LOF service .
We'll see if that helps .
I have noticed that when the loping subsides or is minimal, the throttle is much more responsive and the car accelerates easier with 1/2 the foot pressure .
As soon as I can clear a working space in my driveway I'll finally replace the fuel injection pump as I suspect it's at least part of the problem here .
One step forward, drive in a circle ~ good thing i like this old car so much
