In my limited experience it seems that using good quality German made V-Belts of the *exact* size, is the key .
Hopefully everyone here knows the importance of occasionally looking at the -inside- of your various V-Belts with a flashlight and if any cracks are seen, buy new ones straightaway, save the old ones in the trunk for emergency use .
