I've had some on going oil and fuel leaks in my '84 W-123 , this was one of the side effects :
Diesel fuel or Diesel contaminated engine oil attacks all plastic and rubber items aggressively , in this case it meant my engine shock absorber mounts turned to taffy .
Tom at the Mercedes Classic Center set me up right quickly with the correct , longer lasting buffer rubbers for lass than most Partshaus' sell the off brand ones .
When changing these the shaft will want to spin as you try to remove the lower 10MM ATF nut , there are 7MM flats on the shaft *just* above the flat washer visible in the photo , use an open ended wrench , it'll slip right into place as you unscrew the nut .
DO NOT use any sort of pliers / grippers on the shaft ! it is soft and will get burrs and this will quickly damage the seals , ruining the shock absorber .
It is very important for the overall health or your engine and wallet to keep after weeps leaks and seeps plus to clean everything occasionally .
