I went home after work and experimented raising the OM671 engine up by it's left side using a narrow block of wood underneath the AC compressor bracket .
I lifted the wood with my hydraulic trolley jack .
The first time I think I might have raised it too high as the wood popped out , luckily before I had my hands in there.....
The second time I was able to get both new hoses tucked in and lightly screwed to the oil filter housing , then i re mounted the left side motor mount to the unibody and spent some time trying to wiggle the alloy support arm in there , it simply wouldn't fit so I disconnected the power steering return hose from the steering box , made a bit of a mess and was able to get the arm nearly in place ~ in time , by shoving the engine to the right with one hand I was able to get the support arm started over it's four 10MM studs but the sheet metal mount protector fell out and I flagged before I was able to jockey the engine high enough to slip it back in , the light was going so I stopped for the day but I made some progress and that's a good thing .
