Was this a 240D that you changed the Sway Bar Bushings on?
I tried to get at the driver's side bushing w/o removing the brake booster, yet it's way to tight in there on my '85 300D.
Decided to hold off on the Sway Bar Bushings for now, though I did put in new shocks (B. HD), rotated some tires, and inspected various parts.
At some point I need a tranny rebuild, and repair the leaking oil filter canister, which might also be a good time to pull the brake booster, to make room, and replace the Sway Bar Bushings.
Maybe a wash is in order now.

You begin by jacking and blocking the front of the car and removing both front wheels , then you need to remove the cute little , VERY DELICATE white plastic body pass through covers . driver's side underneath :
Driver's side on top , near the power brake booster :
They're easy to remove but delicate and crispy , only the passenger side is still available new :
You have to remove the battery box to access the passenger side .
