Before you panic ;
Take the time to look hard at the rear sub frame bushings ~ they'll _look_ fine but have either clean or rusty marks around them if the sub frame is shifting from shot rubber bushings .

It goes down to the metal from end to end with undercoating covering it. So, yeah, its both. I suspected it might be part of the unibody structure as it seems to terminate at the frame looking box up front. Upside down MIG welding. how fun. Anyway, thanks for the input. Besides the welding I am really hoping to find a failed Guibo when I check it out Monday.
Time to pull out the mig welder and get busy if that's a subframe part... on my screen it's hard to tell if that crack is metal or undercoating.
