wasn't that one of the cars made with the "green" biodegradable insulation?  There's green in that for someone.  I think the factory replaced some under warranty.  The Classic Center might be able to point you in the right direction.

My indie says I should replace the wiring harness in my 1995 E300D.  It took his shop 3+ hours to get my A/C working because of wiring issues.  Admittedly, they also replaced the compressor and performed a complete A/C service in that time, but at least an extra hour or so went into chasing "phantom" faults. I.e., it would work fine in the bay, but fail during the test drive (3 times), had relay problems, some bare/broken/frayed wires, poor connections, etc.  They finally got it stable after fixing the bad sections/ends of wires.

 

Can anyone recommend a good source for a replacement harness?  Car turned 200K miles last week, so I'm sure it's time.
