I installed a URO blower two years ago in my '82 300D. It definitely
pulls less current than the original motor, which still had functional
brushes but which (I thought) was acting up in other ways (turned out
I was wrong). The plastic of the URO part is a bit thinner then the
Mercedes blower, but it fit perfectly. The blower has a bit more
motor noise / whine than the Mercedes blower, but it's also a new part
that hadn't been broken in for 30 years.
I'm perfectly content with the "cheaper" solution here, and it's easy
enough to replace if I ever come across a genuine blower motor in
excellent condition.
