Darn gremlins. The older they get, the more havoc they cause.

Hi all
Thanks, in advance, as always, for your thoughts. My 82 300D turbo is having auto climate control issues. Sometimes it works totally fine - vent, a/c, defrost, all working as it has for the eighteen years that I have had the car. However, occasionally the fan does not come on - i can hear the vent and defrost flaps moving and can hear the ac compressor kick on as i push the different buttons, but no fan. Later the fan will start working. Also, not sure if this is related or not, but I am still having vacuum issues. When I start the car the air flow through the vents is low and sometimes the locks do not work, but quite consistently, if i turn off the acc, drive for about thirty seconds, then turn it back on, everything (acc, locks) all work fine, until i next shut off the car. Does any of this make sense? The car has 167k on it and the acc pushbutton assembly and fan, etc., are original.
Thanks
Andrew
