I've had autolite come apart and leave the shell in the hole.Then had to use a easy out to remove shell.

My opinion only - it is like the old spark plug wars between Champion, Autolite, A/C and NGK.  They all worked, but everyone had a war story as to why one was better than another. All I know is that we bought them at the wholesale level for 15 cents, sold them to favored mechanics for 30 cents, sold them to run of the mill mechanics for 60 cents, and to the walk in dummies for $1.25. 

Most glow plugs are now made out of country (think Croatia, China, etc), and the PR is about the same. How hard is it to run some electricity to the tip, get it hot enough to heat the diesel, and go "poof" - not exactly rocket science.

The local FLAPS has Bosch glow plugs in stock - are they good?
The next nearest FLAPS is 100 miles away. So if my fuel work does not help, I can install them before swmbo leaves for a trip on Sunday.
