Re: [diesel_mercedes] Antique Dark Blue Benz Tex Needed

I don't have any of the material, but in the past when I have needed some for another car, I'd go to the boneyard/PAP and cut some from the rear of a bad driver's side seat. Usually, they are so beaten-up that they can't be resold.

With my SD, I bought a passenger side seat at the boneyard that was in good condition and transferred over all the driver's side stuff, like the armrest.  FWIW, I "degloved" the old seat and took apart the leather pieces so I could (at least theoretically) reproduce it with new supple hide.  I thought it wold be less expensive to reproduce the leather upholstery than buy new hides, but it was even less expensive to swap out the driver's seat with a newer passenger seat, after I found out that they were interchangeable.

Guys,

I have found this wonderful upholster here in Houston that has agreed to keep my original seats and only insert material in panels that need to be replaced.

I have one such panel on my drivers seat where someone spilled something that ate through the top material many years ago.  It is all still intact but it is down to the cloth in that section.  I also need to replace the top section of by rear seat back in the coupe where the sun has cracked it badly.

Any of you guys have dark blue MB tex that you would be willing to part with?  I'll be happy to pay for both the material and the shipping.

I actually favor finding the old stuff it I can get one of you guys to pry loose of a small amount rather than buying it new.  I have sources on the new MB Tex but would like to find old.

Chip
