Last week when my car started smoking Kevin pulled the stereo out and I had him completely disconnect it.
Now that we know the smoking was from the loose bolt on the ground wire to the starter, I asked him to reinstall my stereo. It worked for a few minutes, then quit.
So this morning I was trying to figure out which wires he thought he crossed. I had to pull it out to see. Nothing. Huh. So I checked the fuses. Ah, that was it.
I'm ready to go to town now that I know what the issue is. Hmm, car won't start. That's odd I had it running a few minutes earlier. I tried and tried. Nothing, not even the "click" sound we heard the other day with the loose wire. OK, doesn't make sense, but I'll check the fuse box and see if I did something weird. No. The stereo is disconnected.
Arrrgh! Tears starting to well up now...NOW what??? The battery cables are tight. The cable to the starter feels tight. I don't see anything hanging down.
I get Kevin on the phone "Well, I had it running just a little while ago when I started messing with the stereo and I had to pull the...car...into...low...to..get..the...stereo...out...OH..Um, oh man, I can't believe I did that! Ah hahahaha..listen! It started right up when I put it in Park!"
He informed me from 50 miles away, as if he can control ME, that I'm grounded until I learn how to drive my car! hahaha good one.
Car running and into town I went. Had some delicious chicken (that's what they said they were made of!) tacos at a mexican grocery/ deli!
Now that the groceries are in it's time to move it to level ground to check oil consumption. Then get busy on the garden since I bought loads of veggies and herbs yesterday!
BTW yesterday I turned over 1000 miles on the "new" motor.
