Re: [diesel_mercedes] Gremlin Hunt

Caitlin:

How is this test light connected? From where to where? Is it between the battery post and the cable that would otherwise go on on that post?

Also, your clock is always on. I don't know how much current it draws but I don't believe it should make even a weak test light glow. And I don't remember if it is on a fuse or not.

Bogy.

Yesterday I changed out the entire fuse box, and even with all the fuses out, the test light still had a slight glow.

Does this mean I have a short?  A loose ground wire?  (this is me sorta talking out my bum)

My symptoms (that I know of) are:

Rear dome wouldn't shut off (it's now unplugged)
Front dome is sketchy (sometimes it works, sometimes not)
Antenna will not retract
Door lights may stay on (hard to test since in daylight they're out of sight when door is shut)

Which are all on fuse #15, which didn't make the light go out when I pulled it...

Things that are "working" on this fuse are:
Trunk light works
passenger vanity light works (driver side doesn't have cover to lift and activate it, so it's always off...don't know how test for sure)
warning monitor term (I don't know what this is)

How do I even begin to troubleshoot this?  I don't want to ruin my new battery (or be caught uncharged again)...

I *really* need a manual.....
