Re: [diesel_mercedes] FINALLY got my 300D, now many questions

Tom,

Thank you for the advice.  I plan to do the work myself or bribe hubby. :)  Thankfully when we were raised we were allowed to drive until we knew how to change a tire & oil.  We didn't automatically get our license or even a car at 16.  I got the application for my LEARNERS permit on my 16th bday!  I had to ask to borrow their Delta 88 & write down the mileage paying .07 per mile & bring it back with the same amount of gas as when I left.  Oh the harshness! :)  Wish all parents were like that.

Later in life, upon walking home from work one afternoon with a light snow falling, my dad said "I took your car apart so you could replace the water pump, all the parts are laid out the way the go back on, you better hurry before it snows any heavier."  Thanks dad.  Really!  I learned how to do that little project.  I restored for the most part a '67 Mustang myself. Once I started running on 6 instead of 8 cylinders I sold it for more than I paid for it!

We checked the trans fluid yesterday.  Full.  Still shudders when I put it in reverse.

Trish
