Thanks, Brian. Everything is hooked up correctly. I was able to download the 617 Factory Service Manual (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4873836/Mercedes-Benz_W123_300D_Factory_Service_Manual_CD_1976-1985) and found the specs on linkage adjustment, so I think tomorrow will be a good day. Mike |

Here are pics of my 300d's which show the linkage hook ups. Make sure everything got back where it came from. http://tinyurl.com/3obgbprbrian from la verne, ca From: vegan <sorry_thereisnogod@yahoo.com> To: diesel_mercedes@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 8:46 PM Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Throttle linkage adjust = less power = can't get it back Since making some adjustments (1. linkage, 2. idle speed), I have less than desirable power. 1. For reasons that no longer make any sense, I adjusted my throttle linkage a few days ago, and it really messed things up. Does anyone happen to have the specks on linkage lengths (available in the Factory Service Manual) or really good advice on how to make it work well? 2. There may be something else up here, too. At the same time I did the linkage, I also raised the idle. So, when I tried to drive the car with both the idle low and the linkage out of whack, I had no power and my shift points were terrible. After I put the idle back and fiddled with the linkage a little, the power got better, but it doesn't hold its speed on cruise control anymore, and it might get stuck going terribly slow (15 mph) up a hill if I come up to a traffic going up hill but then don't have to stop. The RPMs just won't go up, even with the pedal floored (there is no kickdown switch), and downshifting doesn't help. The car had very good power before I started messing with it and cruise control worked great. What have I done? |
