I was going to suggest open SUSE, but trying to introduce Linux to a basic Windows user really requires physical presence and hand holding for about a week, in my experience.

You could always download Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ and forget about virus's.

Nate, with the additional information, I believe the software has a cookie or file which only allows you to download and install once on a computer. just my guess. So I would just move on to AVAST or another virus software.
