The Mercedes web site said in early 1979 that were have sluggish problems so around September they added the turbos I'm looking at one of theses very cars there is no sprayer no splasher on the rod all it had was an oil cooler which I have. I'm looking to overhaul this engine before I try any kind of boost how hard it it going to be to find new piston? With the right compression.

In the 123s, that is.  The S-class models, 300SD, W116 and it's successor, the W126, were turbo'd from the start (1978).

It's only on the turbo'd engines. they didn't start putting turbo's on them till 80 or 81.
