Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Detroit engine seizure Freeze Plugs

Hi Gene & welcome to the group. This group has a tremendous amount of information for the asking. I'm doing a lot of work on my 1983 300D and have found much good advice here. There is also a great forum for DIY mechanics on the peachparts website (ie www.peachparts.com). Get on the site & click the tab for the forum. There is a lot of archived information there and good tutorials on a variety of jobs. Some of these are saved in a special archived area. If you google peachparts wikka or use this link http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/DoItYourSelf there are a bunch of very detailed procedures there that I have found very helpful. Right now I'm in the process of changing the rear axles, replacing the parking brakes, the differential is out so I can replace the axle & pinion seals, the drive shaft support bearing was nearly disintegrated so the drive shaft is out as well as the transmission support, and I just pulled the rear wheel hubs this morning to repack the bearings since it was already apart this far. All these jobs & many more are detailed at peachparts. Check it out & let me know what you think.
Blaise

Hi   I just joined the group site . I have purchased a 1987
Mercedes-Benz 124 300d that needs a lot of TLC and I need some repair tec.  information.I signed up with Mitchel 1 on line but they don't show how to repair or
give pic's or discribe how to do repairs. My question is
what is the best repair manual or web site to use?
                Thanks Gene
