Hi Nate

I did this on an 84 Chevy van ran it for 3 years with a non turbo 300d engine conversion, ran fine but a bit underpowered. (Still got it round the back). My current project is a turbo OM617 into a Range Rover. Easier than the Chevy as on the RR I have made up a conversion plate so the OM617 just bolts up to the RR gear box, splines are the same I'm told....... the Chevy conversion involved fusing the MB prop shaft to the Chevy shaft - balancing etc
