[diesel_mercedes] Cooling Off Weather

So ;

It was 87° F @ 4 PM yesterday as I was driving home , I noticed the temp wheel on my '84 was on full heat although ambient temp. air was flowing out the dash vents , I absently rolled it down to full cold and was surprised when it almost instantly began blowing blistering hot air......

Knowing it'd be cold this morning I left it at that ans this morning it blew warm , not hot air as I left the house with the wheel still set to cold and the EC (fresh air , no AC) button depressed .

Each time I got on the freeway and up to speed the head would bleed off a bit , still warmer than the out side air but not terribly hot .

When I got off the freeway and stopped , the heat rapidly came back up to full force .

The temp. gauge remained @ 75° C throughout .

I don't know what all this means but I plan to find out ere long .

If the blower still worked on defrost it's probably in need of brushes .

I bought one ' Uro ' brand fan motor , it works O.K. but vibrates a tiny bit at high speed .

I've replaced the brushes in other blowers , one in particular had a very bad commutator but it's still working fine .

Thanks for the reminder. Think I will put #4 of 5 glow plugs in the wifes car, and then look at her failed heat providing system. Think her blower is down, but will start with the easy stuff first (fuses, mono, etc.)
