So ;
As long as I was looking around a HUGE self service yard I decided to look at the trucks and found several Ford Rangers, apparently they're all the same from 1995 ~ 2011 .
Several had aftermarket CD players, I want the correct plain wrap factory one, it's made in Brazil and part of the "Inner City Anti-Theft Appearance Group" that most here are un aware of....
After a while I realized there are loads and loads of Ford Explorers, this is supposed to be built on the same platform and Lo ! many had the identical dash boards and several had factory CD players.....
.
I gently and carefully removed one, yes ! it uses the same harness plug
.
Just to be sure before paying I carried it over to the same 2001 Ranger I have and tried fitting it to the fascia.....
Uh, oh ~ no dice .
The Explorer's CD player has about 1/8" wider and taller face so it won't fit in the Ranger's fascia....
.
Oh, well, I'll keep looking .
In another Ranger I discovered a *perfect* undamaged shift lever with knob and rubber boot, left behind by whomever removed the engine and tranny
More than 1/2 of these trucks had detached shift knobs and it's part of the whole shift lever .
I'm a regular at quite a few self service yards and they're always telling me '! you buy the strangest stuff no one else ever wants!' then they give me a discount....
$16.00 including tax ? YES PLEASE
.
I was out junkyarding to - day, looking for a right side middle seat seat belts for my old Mercedes Diesel Station wagon, it turns out it only fits W123 wagons dammit . (I think I have one inbound now from New York, whew) .
