Today I replaced the drive shaft center bearing and the remaining original flex disk.
It wasn't too hard, loosen the flex disk bolts, and pull the drive shaft out the back. Mark the two pieces of the driveshaft, so you put them back them same, then pull apart, and use a puller on the bearing. Grease the drive shaft splines and bearing seat, tap in the bearing, and reassemble as per the marks. Reattach everything.
The Flex disk wasn't bad, yet it was original, so I replaced it.
The car is still on jack stands, so I haven't test drove it yet, hopefully the groan is gone. I need to do a few more things, including rotating the tires and checking the brakes tomorrow.
Fun and games.

As for my MB noises, I think Bill's right, my center bearing is going out, though the axle still has problems, it's not making the noise. There's another noise up front when cold, which I need to figure out, maybe after I change out the center bearing. One noise at a time.
