_Finally .Victor has had my car since 12.14.2016 ~ over a year but it's done .@ 362,291 miles it now has a fully rebuilt engine, transmission and injection pump plus injectors, a new SANDEN 7 series AC compressor and a modern condenser .They commented "I don't know how you drove it 3,000 miles to Colorado, New Mexico and back with the engine like that" .Simple : it's a well designed and built German automobile and I never, _ever_ overspeed nor thrash it plus of course I always HOT CHANGE the oil and filter on time .I have to go back and pick up a lots of old parts, the original DELCO R4 AC compressor (still works great !), the undamaged original AC condenser I replaced with a larger and more efficient cross flow typ one, the 'rebuilt' starter that turned out to have a bad Bendix Grrr), the oil pump who's shaft some how got _bent_, all the timing chain shoes and tensioner plus a timing chain, I hope I can get good pictures of the shoes, they were so worn out it's amazing nothing broke, worn out pistons, all four, they had to bore the block to maybe second over size, , valves, seats and guides ~ the list takes up two pages, all the bands in the transmission including the reverse one, two new Guibos for the driveshaft .They set the up shifts slightly higher RPM than stock and asked me to try it, if I like it, good, if not they'll re adjust to stock when I bring it back in 1,000 miles for the initial oil change, valve adjustment and so on .The higher up shift RPM's already bother me, I don't like the engine to wind up this tight unless I choose to delay the shifts manually like on steep hills or when engine braking down steep grades . I know it'll eat into the fuel economy too .The car is worth maybe $1,500, right ? the bill came to 9,872..78good thing I like this car best of all of them .
Looks like I'll finally have to bite the bullet and have it re painted ere long .I've been setting money aside for this job for a long time now (years) so I hope I can afford it ~-Nate
