[diesel_mercedes] R134a In AC ?

Rob ;

? What are your low and high pressure readings and at what RPM ? .

I was chatting with a Mechanic I know who added AC to his vintage air cooled VW and he said he used R134a and is running 30 ~ 40 # on the low side and 150 on the high side at idle and it's freezing him out of the car ~

I'd love to see 40 degrees vent temps, I know that R134a has a lower working pressure than the R12 our W123's were desinged with so I'm thinking of trying to find my AC gauges and fiddling with the pressures to see if that gets me colder air .

TIA,

-Nate

OK, I found a loose wire at the compressor, which I probably bumped loose when I installed the skid plate, though it took another month to stop working, and another month to figure out what happened. Added a little more r134 to top it up. Happy it wasn't the compressor, and that I have A/C during the Santa Ana wind season.

I'll try to swap out my alternator this weekend, in between tree trimming.
